Kepler


Johannes Kepler was a German was a mathematician, astronomer and astrologer. He was a key figure in the 17th Century Scientific Revolution. One of the things Kepler is best known for is his eponymous laws of planetary motion. In class we learned about how he became an assistant to Tycho Brahe who was also a brilliant mathematician and astronomer as well. Kepler and Barahe were complete opposites. Brahe liked to party and entertain guests on his Island, Which he had because he was the world astronomer. He was made this by a king who found him to be brilliant at the age of 16 he wowed astronomer from all over the world brought together by this king. I thought the story told in class was very interesting because at this time the reason why Mars was always a centimeter off was never discovered until after Brahe died. Brahe begged Kepler to not let him and his work die in vain, he wanted Kepler to finsish what he started. Kepler worked and worked until he finally figured it out. Just when he was about to give up and he was so angry he finally did it. (insert why and how here) Kepler has three laws; Kepler’s second law says that planets move no faster than earth. And his third law states that Saturn takes longer to orbit the sun than earth. Johannes Kepler is very brilliant and without him the mystery may never have been solved.
